We grow a good range of seasonal produce in the field and in an unheated polytunnel.
Our aim is to provide as great a variety as is possible in our climate.
We try to ‘extend the season’ as much as possible by carefully nurturing plants in a greenhouse to get them off to a flying start. We also cover more tender plants with horticultural fleece for a few weeks to get them fruiting a bit earlier.
Although many vegetables can be grown from spring until autumn some have a ‘best season’. These include broccoli, cabbage and spinach which usually grow best in the slightly cooler weather of spring and autumn. They are more susceptible to pests in high summer, so we concentrate on providing you with delicious true summer vegetables at this time.
Eating in tune with the seasons means produce at its peak of ripeness, full of flavour and goodness.
If there’s something you’d like that we don’t yet grow, please let us know and we’ll certainly consider trying it!
